Philanthropy: Watermelon Fest

Members of Lambda Chi Alpha exemplify the true GW spirit by donating their time, money, and effort to benefit the welfare of others. Lambda Chi Alpha puts on two major philanthropic events each year. The first is the North American Food Drive, which raises over 2 million pounds of food annually for North American food banks. The second is our annual spring Watermelon Fest competition, a weekend-long event that includes sororities in Olympic-style competitions with watermelons.

In addition to this scheduled community service, Lambda Chi brothers also volunteer for such projects as the Foggy Bottom Clean Up, Diabetes Walk, and tutoring elementary school students in the District.
