        May is a very special month for the FR - as we welcome special guest engine – ‘Jerry M’! Originally called ‘Vaenol’ (Works Number 638), the engine was built in 1895 for Dinorwic Quarry but is now part of the Hollycombe Collection, at the Liphook site in Hampshire.

        ‘Jerry M’ will be working on the FR throughout May.

        Location: Golden Jubilee Park, Fiddlers Lane, Saughall

        A Family Fun Day will mark the official opening of a new park which aims to provide sports facilities for youngsters.

        Two fields have been combined to create larger pitches for football and cricket.

        There is an existing children's play area, a zip wire has been installed and there are benches.  A scout hut at the site will be opened up to community use.

        There are plans for a picnic area,  a hard surface for basket ball, a BMX track and a shelter for young people.

        The Fun Day will be opened by local councillor Andrew Storrar.

        The Welsh Highland Railway Society is pulling out all the stops with a weekend of events guaranteed to draw crowds from across the UK.
        The beer festival at Dinas Goods Shed has proved a massive success since its launch in 2004 and this year promises even more ale, more fun and more music, with Purple Moose again taking charge of the specials!
