The Lambda Chi House: 2020 G Street
For the past three years, the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity house has
been located at 2020 G Street, NW. Conveniently positioned
across from the academic quad and mere blocks away from campus
facitilies such as Gelman Library, Lerner Health and Wellness Center,
and the Marvin Center, the Lambda Chi Alpha House is the most
well-positioned Greek house at George Washington University,
allowing us to maintain a strong presence on campus.
Unlike most other fraternities at GW, the Lambda Chi House is maintained exclusively by the Delta Xi Alumni Corporation, who graciously negotiated the six-year lease with the residence's private owners. Thus, the house falls under the jurisdiction of the District of Columbia's finest, the Metropolitan Police Department. As a private residence, the fraternity house affords Brothers a level of independent living unmatched anywhere else on campus. The benefits of this independence are numerous. For example, there are no university-sponsored room inspections or lists of contraband appliances at the House. Although University police are not allowed on the property without consent, 2020 G Street still benefits from a degree of security that can only be achieved from close proximity to the UPD headquarters (across the street.) The house consists of 15 residence rooms spread over 3 floors: 9 singles and 6 doubles. Every room is equipped with Internet hookups and cable television. Bathrooms can be found on every living floor, as well as complimentary washers and dryers and storage closets. The main room of the House is outfitted with premium digital cable, allowing brothers access to almost every televised sporting event as well as On-Demand programming and over 50 movie channels. Additional amenities include an entirely brother-donated textbook library, a premium outdoor grill, and a basement maintained for social gatherings. After their freshman year, all brothers become elligible to live at 2020 G Street, providing they meet certain minimum requirements. Those with financial concerns will be happy to know that rent is incredibly competitive, with both single and double occupancy leases averaging significantly less ($100-150/month) than university housing. Most importantly, living at 2020 G Street is fun. The ability to live with your friends, as well as participate in a myriad of in-house social and philanthropic events with ease is a feat unavailable to any other residence on campus. |
NewsFall 2008 Rush information will be posted soon. Congratulations to our four new brothers! Watermelon Fest 2008 successfully raised food and monetary donations to benefit the Capital Area Foodbank. Photos are now posted on this website. |
